Change of hospital contract

Jan 7, 2022HCi news

HCi is committed to providing our members with private hospital options which represent the highest quality and best value for money.  To meet this commitment to you, we have hospital contract agreements with over 500 hospitals across Australia.

One of these agreements is with Adventist HealthCare Limited, which provides a range of medical, surgical and rehabilitation services at the following private hospital(s) in New South Wales (NSW):

  • Sydney Adventist Hospital, and
  • The San Day Surgery

Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach agreement with Adventist HealthCare Ltd on the terms and conditions of a new hospital contract. We can’t establish what we believe are fair charges, to avoid pressure on the cost of members’ premiums or any out-of-pocket costs.  As a result, Adventist HealthCare Ltd has decided to terminate the current agreement from 7 February 2022.

What you need to know

Adventist HealthCare’s termination of this agreement means you will likely experience out-of-pocket expenses for any treatment at their hospitals.  However, certain transitional arrangements will apply to HCi members for:

  • Treatment commencing prior to 7 February 2022,
  • Pre-booked procedures, including pregnancy and delivery bookings,
  • Patients already undergoing a course of treatment, and/or
  • Emergency admissions.

Therefore, if you expect to have treatment at either of the above hospitals, especially after 7 February 2022, please discuss the matter with your surgeon/specialist. It is important to understand the additional costs of choosing this private hospital, relative to alternative hospitals in your area.

If you have any queries about this change of hospital contract, or anything else about your private health insurance, please contact us on 1800 804 950 or via email on enquiries@hciltd.com.au.

Yours sincerely.
