HCi’s Mental Health Coaching ~ supporting your mental health
From 1 May 2024, eligible HCi members will have access to our mental health coaching program throughout Australia, at no additional cost, to aid recovery for many mental health conditions. The stepped care approach to mental health recovery keeps people and their mental health strong, resilient and on track.

// HCi MENTAL HEALTH COACHING PROGRAM
Mental health coaching is a collaborative partnership between you and a trained mental health professional that helps you develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to build positive thinking and behaviours, and keep your mental health on track. Our program offers eligible HCi members access to high quality, personalised mental health care and support– at no additional cost.
HCi’s Mental Health Coaching is a phone and video- call based support program accessed from the convenience of your own home, with the assistance of our partner Valion Health. Our coaches will work closely to develop your individual support plan in partnership with your current care team including psychologists, psychiatrists, GPs, allied health providers, and carers.
The coaching program usually runs for either 8 or 16 weeks. Each coaching sessions lasts for about 30-45 minutes. The program includes 4 major components:
Nursing assessment
A registered nurse supports you from initial assessment to the development of an individualised plan for you and your mental health coach to work together on
Video or phone sessions
Regular video or phone sessions with your mental health coach
Care navigation
Get connected with appropriate local services and assistance in coordinating your care and aiding your recovery

Am I eligible?
If you’re an HCi member who is covered by a Gold tier Hospital policy, have served your two month waiting period, and need a little extra mental health support, you may be able to take advantage of this program.
Our Mental Health Coaching program is available to active, financially up to date HCi members, and their dependants aged over 18 years (for dependants aged 14-17 years, parental consent is required), who have held Gold Hospital cover for at least two months. Members can only be enrolled in one mental health program offered by HCi at a time and are eligible for this mental health program only once in their lifetime (per person covered).
You’ll need access to a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone with a webcam and microphone and/or telephone to get the full benefit of this program.
Please note additional clinical criteria may apply. Full program eligibility is determined by the program provider, Valion Health, who will contact you to confirm your eligibility.
